JKBOSE Releases Updated Pass Marks Criteria for 2024 Examinations
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has recently issued a notice detailing the marks distribution scheme for the academic session 2023-24, specifically for the Higher Secondary Part-II (Class 12th) examinations.
This notice aims to provide students and educational institutions with clarity regarding the minimum pass marks required in various subjects across different streams.
According to the notice, students enrolled in Humanities, Science, Home Science, and Commerce streams must attain a minimum number of marks to successfully pass their examinations.
The regulations stipulate that candidates must secure a minimum of 33% in General English and 36% in each of the remaining four elective subjects chosen by the candidate.
In subjects where practical examinations are included, candidates are required to achieve a minimum of 36% in both theory and practical exams, separately, as well as an aggregate score of 36% encompassing both theory and practical components.
This criterion ensures a comprehensive evaluation of students’ knowledge and practical skills across various subject areas.
The notice further elaborates on the specific requirements for subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Statistics, Environmental Science, Information Practices, Computer Science, Food Technology, Human Development, Clothing for the Family, Extension Education, and Business Studies.
For instance, subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology have defined pass mark criteria for theory, internal assessment, and practical exams, whereas subjects like Geography, Mathematics, and Environmental Science outline the minimum marks needed for both theory and practical components.
